Heat a Dutch oven on medium heat.
Place ground beef and Italian sausage in the pot along with 2 tablespoons water. Break up with a metal spoon while it browns.
Add diced onions garlic and spices to the browned meat. Cook until the onions are translucent.
Add canned beans, stewed tomatoes, salsa, and butter. Mix with the browned meat. Cover and cook on low for 1 hour.
