Barbecue sauce is one of those things that you need to learn to make. It is a lot like salad dressing. There are many wonderful, easy options at the store, but home-made will take your meal the extra mile. It is the crowning glory on grilled meats, and you can also just go crazy with fun and unique flavors. Once you get a great base down, you can change the sweetness, the heat, the tanginess, and make a ton of great meals with one skill.
This Apricot Honey Barbecue sauce is one of my favorites. It's a bit on the tangy side, which is how I like my sauce for some succulent baby back ribs. It is also a fairly mild, so it is a great all around sauce for the whole family. The apricot leaves some fruity notes and the honey adds a mild sweetness. The best part about making this sauce is the simplicity. It is just a measure and mix recipe and you simmer for 10 minutes to make sure your dry spices are well incorporated, and the recipe makes a full pint so you can use it for a few meals.
