This super simple Sheet Pan Shrimp Boil is the perfect way to get loads of sizzling, flavor in weeknight style. This sheet pan dinner is packed with spicy andouille sausage, fresh corn, creamer potatoes, and jumbo shrimp. Top it off garlic butter, and the classic Old Bay Seasoning and you have the perfect “boil”.
I love sheet pan dinners. The best part is the clean-up, because you just whip the foil and parchment off that pan and throw it in the garbage. On a weeknight that is the way it is done.
Make your life really easy, and give your family a really fun dining experience. Just skip the plates and silverware for this meal as well. Lay out a sheet of parchment paper at each place setting. Then place your beautiful sheet pan shrimp boil in the center of the table with a roll of paper towels and let everyone dig in. Delicious and super fun!
I serve this dinner for our family's very low-key Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras dinner.
Indulge a little with Baby Back Ribs in the Oven or some delicious Pork Ragu!
Make this recipe, because...
Making a Shrimp Boil on a sheet pan in the oven is easy, delicious, and so much fun.
The easy preparation and simple ingredients are perfect for weeknight dinners or fun parties.
The garlic butter and Old Bay seasoning are finger lickin good and eating with your fingers is encouraged.
A well lined sheet pan makes clean-up a breeze. You don’t even need dishes for this awesome dinner.
Ingredients
Jumbo Shrimp Peeled and Deveined- I like to buy frozen shrimp already cleaned and ready to eat. Defrost by placing the frozen shrimp in a bowl of cool water for about twenty minutes.
Creamer Potatoes- You can use almost any variety of creamer potato. It is really important that the potatoes are ripe. Green potatoes will take a very long time to cook in the oven and will still be hard long after the rest of the ingredients are cooked.
Instructions
Step 1
- Start by placing cleaned and cubed potatoes in a microwave safe bowl. Cover with a damp paper towel and microwave for four minutes.
Potatoes need a little jump start on the rest of the ingredients. If you have perfectly ripe potatoes they will cook up in 25 minutes, but I found that I end up with a few hard pieces if I don’t par-cook them first. You can use the little potatoes that already come in a steamer bag.
Step 2
- Then, line a sheet pan with foil or parchment paper.
- Place cubed potatoes, sliced andouille sausage, corn on the cob, lemon wedges, and shrimp on the tray.
Step 3
- Melt one cube of butter in the microwave and add minced garlic to the melted butter.
Maybe the two most delicious ingredients on the planet!
Step 4
- Then drizzle the garlic butter over the ingredients and sprinkle the tray with Old Bay seasoning.
- Toss the ingredients together and make sure that everything is well coated with garlic butter and seasoning.
- Bake in a 375° oven for 25 minutes.
FAQs
Cajun seasoning has a lot in common with Old Bay. The one thing it definitely has is more heat! If you like a little extra spice, then Cajun Seasoning is a great substitute for Old Bay!
Potato starch needs high heat to break down. Par-cooking potatoes before frying or roasted can ensure that the center of the potato is fully cooked with a soft creamy texture before the outside of the potato burns.
Expert Tips
Slice the Andouille Sausage on a sharp angle. This will create a lot of surface area and allow for maximum browning.
Don’t skip the lemon wedges. You won’t need to worry about squeezing lemon over your Shrimp Boil because the cooked lemon wedges will release their juices straight onto the sheet pan mix with the delicious garlic butter.
Before serving, toss everything in the pan drippings and make sure to roll your corn on the cob around in the extra butter.
