Baked Lemon Dill Salmon

Make this recipe, because…

It is a healthy dish that takes 30 minutes to make.

Dill adds fresh, clean flavor to the salmon.

Lemon slices release their juices and keep the fish moist and flaky while adding bright flavor.

This recipe is great for feeding a crowd, but the technique works very well for smaller portions as well. You can easily make this recipe for two.

Ingredients

Salmon with lemon and dill ingredients

Salmon Fillet- This is an excellent cut of fish for beginning cooks. Not only is it delicious and healthful, but it requires no special preparations like boning.

Instructions

Step 1

  • Mix together minced dill, olive oil, salt and pepper to create a thin paste.

FAQs

Should I buy salmon with skin on or off?

This is mostly a matter of preference as Salmon can be cooked with the skin on or off. The skin can taste a bit more oily and fishy. When cooked with the fillet, it will leave those oils and fishier tastes behind. Many people enjoy the flavor you get cooking the salmon with the skin on.  Buying skin-on fillets can be a bit less expensive. Once cooked the meat will come away from the skin with a fork or spatula.

If you find you don't like the taste of the skin, you can usually find fillet pieces that have already had the skin removed. You can also use a fillet knife to remove the skin yourself.

What temperature should I cook Salmon to?

Salmon needs to reach 145° at the center. Ideally the outside of the fish will be opaque and pinky while the center remains a brighter pink color. The fish should flake apart easily with a fork and be moist.

Expert Tips

Baked salmon with lemon and dill is a great dinner dish, but it can also be served cold. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and make a great addition to weekday salad.
